Total Knee Replacement Segment, by End User to Account Largest Share in Knee Implant Market during 2025-2031

According to our new research study on "Knee Implant Market Forecast to 2031 - Global Analysis - by Type of Procedures, Implant Type, Material, and End User," the market was valued at US$ 14.08 billion in 2024 to US$ 19.82 billion by 2031; the market is expected to register a CAGR of 5.09% during 2025-2031. The knee implant market growth is attributed to the aging population and technological advancements.

The rapid pace of product innovation, regulatory approvals, and advances in surgical technique to improve outcomes, reduce complications, and make knee replacement more accessible are catalyzing the adoption rate of knee implants. In late 2024, Zimmer Biomet obtained US FDA Premarket Approval for its Oxford Cementless Partial Knee system, making it the only cementless partial knee implant approved in the US. This implant offers better fixation and efficiency in the operating room, based on over 20 years of clinical experience and more than 300,000 procedures worldwide. Likewise, Zimmer Biomet's Persona SoluTion porous plasma spray (PPS) femur component recently received FDA 510(k) clearance (December 2024) as an alternative for patients with sensitivities to bone cement or metal, offering a fully cementless fixation when used with compatible tibia and patella components. Another example is the Globus Medical "ExcelsiusFlex + ACTIFY 3D Total Knee System," which was cleared via FDA 510(k) in July 2024. It combines robotic navigation and a 3D implant system with porous lattice interfaces conducive to cementless fixation and improved anatomic fit. Also, materials innovation, such as the newly FDA-cleared Activit E polyethylene with Vitamin E antioxidant for Exactech's Truliant knee system (August 2025), seeks to improve durability and wear performance without needing gamma sterilization (which can degrade certain properties). These innovations enhance surgeon and patient confidence, reduce revision rates, permit use in broader patient populations, and potentially reduce perioperative morbidity. Therefore, regulatory approvals of newer implants, improved materials, cementless fixation, robotic assistance, and more customized or partial knee solutions are driving the knee implant market expansion.
